- Definition
Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) which allow the webserver to store information on the client (the browser) to be reused during the same visit to the website (session cookies) or later, even after days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to user preferences from the browser on the specifically used device (computer, tablet, smartphone).
- Types of cookie
There are different categories of cookies, with different characteristics and uses:
- a) Technical cookies: these are cookies that are essential for the proper functioning of the Portal and are used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or User to provide such service;
- b) Analytic Cookies: these cookies are used anonymously to collect and analyse traffic and website use. Even without identifying the user, these cookies detect, for example, if the same user returns to connect at different times. They also allow for monitoring the system and improving its performance and usability. These cookies may be deactivated without any loss of function.
- c) Profiling cookies: These are persistent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) user preferences and improve their browsing experience.
- d) Third-party cookies (analytical and/or profiling): these are cookies generated by organisations not belonging to the Website, but integrated into parts of the Website page. Think for example of Google's "widgets" (e.g. Google Maps) or any "social plugins" (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
The website uses only essential technical cookies. For the characteristics and storage times, as well as the analytical description, please refer to the banner's analytical description.
